Ephemera relating to Sub Lieutenant Cyril Edward Boston Shaw while serving in the Royal Merchant Navy on ships including HMS Lord Hotham 12th September 1944 - 3rd July 1945, there is a small pocket diary dated 1942 cataloguing his voyage from February to Newfoundland via Iceland, time in Norfolk, New York, Brooklyn returning to Greenock of Glasgow for shore leave in November, written book from his time at R.N college Greenwich including his notes with a list of short titles, how to write a private letter, filling in the reference sheet (not full), a note book from HMS King Alfred showing the roles of Upper Deck work when 1st Lieutenant, stationing signals- provide a means etc (not full) and a 3rd notebook with notes on pilotage, Seamanship - 1 fathom = 6ft, hitches, etc and gunnery. There are books and magazines. This collection also includes his wartime Medals War Medal 1939-45, 1939-45 star, the Atlantic star and the Africa star - none engraved, his cap ribbons for HMS Ganges and Pembroke and a folder with items included and photocopied including photographs, wedding newspaper report, navy documents etc
